The towns economy still depended on the farmers and ranchers all the way to the mid-20th century when Dallas began to spread out toward the community and more companies moved into town, changing it into a thriving corporate environment. Several well-known businesses like Frito-Lay, Dr. Pepper, Pizza Hut, Rent-A-Center and J.C.Penney among others call the town their home.
Set within the open countryside of North Texas, the community includes more than 4,000 acres of park land with plenty of recreational activities that include hiking trails, basketball and tennis courts, baseball and football fields as well as swimming pools, golf courses, horseback riding trails and nature centers. The town also offers gymnastics programs, arts and crafts classes, summer camps and outdoor adventure programs. There are also five community centers throughout town that offer things like dance classes and senior activities for residents to enjoy. There are even some dog walking parks available for you to enjoy.
The Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve
includes an amphitheater for local plays and concerts as well as a pavilion and plenty of nature trails. As the largest park in town with over 800 acres, Oak Point Park is a great place for family gatherings and group activities. The town is also about 10 miles from Lewisville Lake, a 29,000 acre recreation park that offers plenty of water activities as well as six separate campgrounds and 14 different parks located around the lake. There are plenty of restaurants and convenience stores around the lake for guests to get whatever you need during your outing.
